PROGRAMME:

Tour of the production site:

1. Overview of raw materials
2. Step-by-step explanation of the production process from raw earth to earth building materials
3. Showroom of finished materials.

Practical Exercise – The Carazas Test
Hands-on exercise in which different earth-fiber blends are transformed into different capacities. From this a matrix will emerge that can interpret the different earth building techniques.

Lecture: “Unfired earth as a contemporary building material”
Understanding of clay building materials and their properties
Exploration of historical and contemporary architectural examples of earth building.

Practical Workshop – Earth Samples
Active participation in creating samples of clay plaster & rammed earth / collaborative construction of an earth wall.
